betterthanaplan | A quiet pier, Cat Island, Bahamas, Tuesday morning

It had been ages since the last time Duke had been fishing, and he didn't have a stock of supplies on the Fin and Tonic, but there were plenty of places to pick up gear, and it wasn't like he was strapped for cash. So after Lucifer had mentioned enjoying hanging out with him while he fished, Duke had picked up a rod and some bait and looked for a good quiet spot for some casual fishing.

The guy at the shop had talked his ear off about catching bonefish, so he was actually pretty excited.

He sent his location to both his partners -- in case Octavia should want to hang out as well -- and settled in with his rod to see what he could catch.

"Well, it used to be just a bit of sand and some water, washing up and down," Lucifer pointed out. "We did play around in the surf for half a minute. That was exciting. But the novelty wore off, as it did with most things on Earth. Then you lot invented boats and bikinis..."

"Much nicer things," Lucifer said merrily. "I've had a few beachside orgies in my time. There's something about torches, water, and naked bodies..."

"Oh man, yeah," Duke agreed. "With the roar of the surf blending with the roar of the sex. . . . I mean, I for sure haven't attended as many as you have, but still."

Lucifer laughed. "Sounds like the three of us need a good roll in the sand one of these evenings," he said. "... On blankets, of course."

"Nice big blankets. And then a good rinse," Duke agreed. "I have gotten sand in those awkward places. It's not fun."

"So blankets, perhaps some tarp, and a nearby shower," Lucifer said, nodding. "...Or a skinny-dip."

"Skinny dip, then shower," Duke decided. "We can make sure the Fin and Tonic is right nearby for easy cleanup."

"And libations," Lucifer mused, "And optionally, a round two..."

What? Seeing Octavia and Duke naked in a beautiful tropical locale was a big part of the draw of this island.

"I like it," Duke said. "Octavia may take some convincing for the pre-round two bits, but we can always ask, right?"

"I can always make her a virgin of something," Lucifer said. "... Drinks-wise, at least. I think the ship has sailed otherwise."

"To put it mildly," Lucifer said, grinning like a schoolboy.

Duke tilted his head. “Maybe I’ll find a minute to see if she wants to talk about stuff. Tonight or tomorrow maybe.”

"Ah," Lucifer said, sitting up. "You're feeling up to it?"

Duke decided not to mention that Octavia didn't seem super happy with the idea that he needed to feel up to it.

"Yeah. I think maybe we can make some progress this time."

"Well, I hope so," Lucifer said, looking at him. "Frankly it's a crime the two of you haven't been able to share your kinky little secrets with one another."

Of course he would think that.
