Port of Fandom, Sunday evening

The portal let off at the end of the docks. Duke walked through, his head down, shoulders hunched, looking like a man under attack.

He wasn't anymore, at least not from the outside.

He paused just long enough to get his bearings, then started down the docks, not waiting for his partners to follow through the portal. He wanted to -- something. He didn't know what. Yell or hit something or dive into the ocean or maybe get on the OceaNyx and sail off over the horizon and just. Disappear.

He was pretty sure no one was going to let him do that last one, though.

"We did," Lucifer agreed.

He hesitated. Before he found himself, inevitably, leaning past Octavia to kiss Duke. Very gentle. Very exhausted.

Duke wasn’t up to much kissing back, but he appreciated it anyway. He let a soft noise out from the back of his throat, somewhere between a sob and a sigh.

“We should sleep,” he said finally.

It wasn't meant to be an elaborate kissing-back sort of affair, anyway. Just... a tired, heartfelt expression of feeling.

"We should," Lucifer agreed softly. "Octavia's already setting the right example."

“Yeah.” Duke picked his head up a little to look at her, then set it down against her again. “I hope we don’t dream.”

"Well," Lucifer sighed, as he retreated to his curled up position that allowed him to touch both of them at once, "No worries if you do and wake us up."

"Wouldn't be anything new, I guess," Duke mumbled. Sleep was definitely tugging at him, in that slightly spinny way that happened when he drank too much. "Think m'meds fucked with my alcohol tolerance."

Yes, dear. They most certainly did. Please do not take that as an excuse to stop taking them, though, okay?

A tiny smile tugged at Duke's lips, and he shifted one arm to rest his hand on Lucifer's ribs.

Which was the half-asleep, drunken version of "I love you too".

Lucifer managed a small smile, too.

He closed his eyes, and hoped for sleep to come. His body felt so tired.
